I dont have hearing aids (yet) but only have one working (partially) ear.
There are iphone apps that are basic amplifiers. Take sound in via the mic, and you listen via a headset. Might still be a pain with your hearing aids.
I have one I downloaded a long time ago for a different reason called uListen Sound Amplifier. I am going to give it a try next time to see if it helps. There are plenty of other in the AppStore if you search for "amplifier".

Ok, so just finished roasting a batch this morning and heard 1C for the first time using the App mentioned above. Important to use headphones that dont have a built in mic also I think. It worked very well by putting the iPhone mic right in the airflow coming out of the exhaust.
WARNING... may not be good for your iPhone to be that close to this heat source.
But I definitely and clearly heard 1C start, and probably more importantly, could hear when it was done.
