Brother ChadS has a superb blog entry on proper cupping technique, complete with pics: http://noquarterc...ts-part-2/ Probably one of the best coffee blogs out there for learnings for those of us that like to gather knowledge. Nice job Captain. B|Java |

Dave, great link! I'd never seen that one before. I'd get lots of extra points for grounds on my nose! One question, "How long do you let the hot water sit in the grounds before you break the crust, remove the grounds, and then finally slurp? I have let them sit for a couple minutes as I smell before working the grounds. I've had some say, "That's too long?" What's your practice? Jim "How we treat our children determines who we are!"

PT's Coffee sends out a newsletter. They were discussing cupping and discerning fine distinctions among apples. They suggest tasting 10 different apples, blindly, and taking notes. Discipline. Good article in their blog: http://blog.ptsco...chives/349 B|Java Edited by BoldJava on 04/24/2009 5:49 PM |

?There is no mystery to cupping, only endless intrigue.? ? Geoff Watts, Intelligentsia I absolutely love that quote. If you aren't naturally curious, there is no need to cup. Just buy what others recommend. On the other hand, if you are the Indiana Jones of the brown bean, search out or start a cupping group in your area. Think inclusively. Here is a series of webpages from Mark Prince I hadn't seen before. It is more formal than I typically "cup." Takes time. Good read. The way the articles are set up, I don't know if Geoff or Mark wrote the articles: http://coffeegeek...upping/why B|Java Edited by BoldJava on 05/09/2009 7:36 AM |
