Poppery II
$4.99 at thrift store
Stirred with wood dowel too

Roasted about 75-80 g at a time
3 cups for me
Didnt take long to use HF router control to lower heat
Separate the fan motor circuit, bypass thermostat, stick digital thermometer in, etc

But having to roast every 2 days was more trouble than driving by coffee shop once per week.....kind of defeated the purpose.

These small batch, problematic devices are good for learning, and making and learning from, mistakes. I would recommend that anyone start in the exact same place.

Roast three times in a row, back to back, per week (in weekend), is a half hour job, dilemma solved... bye, bye coffee shop... Grin
And you have three origins, you can make blends.

I think if that was really a good solution, we would all still be using poppers.....

Poppers are an inexpensive and excellent way of learning the roasting process. Anyone starting out should try it.

Poppers have other sins, capacity is just an annoyance.

Poor capacity or not, it is still a great way to learn and observe the coffee roasting process.
