Steel for RC

1 1/2 Pounder Posts: 634 Joined: April 13, 2012	I'm confused by hot rolled, cold rolled, etc. options for steel but would like to purchase some steel to weld up a new RC. I'm open to aluminum as well but would love any advice for gauge and type. Oh, it's for a fluidbed roaster hoping to push 1kg+ so square, round, whatever works for me.

You'll need to grind/polish it because it looks ugly dark without the helium.? I go to the scrap yard here for everything metal... I would think the glass would be the hard part. (round). If square, how would you keep it air tight? hmmm? Well good luck.

It is part of a hot dog maker machine; check here and will understand in a blink: www.ebay.co.uk/it...1156080889 The dimensions are: length 24 cm, OD 20 cm, ID 19 cm, thus wall 5 mm thick. The size is close to the typical 1 kg drum roaster, for FB you need more volume, maybe a steel pipe as lower RC, combined with this glass in the fountain/exhaust area. The glass is thermal resistant, already experimented with.
