Glass Roast Chamber Questions
sahstim001
I have two questions:

1. I see that Bake A Round's are 3.5" diameter, but does this refer to inside diameter (ID) or outside diameter (OD)?

2. Has anyone used candle holder glass similar to this https://a.co/d/cu... for a roast chamber? What are your thoughts on this?

Nope, I use hurricane lamp glass. The belly creates a great re-cirrc path for the beans.

Yes, Borosilicate Glass Chimney Tube. I used two different sizes for two different projects. I used a different company and the size was height (Length) and OD. I have 4 roasters and this one probably has over 100 roasts?

Now my base chamber is a stainless steel cup and the glass chimney is so I can extend the chamber and see the beans.

Candle holder glass has been used successfully for roast chambers but only when it is mounted in a way where it can expand and contract without major resistance to prevent cracking.
1/2 lb and 1 lb drum, Siemens Sirocco fluidbed, presspot, chemex, cajun biggin brewer from the backwoods of Louisiana

Excellent info on the candle glass, thanks everyone!

Does anyone else have info on the Bake-A-Round ID vs OD question?

While I was researching fluid bed roasters, I found a most glass tube providers either gave you interior diameters or wall thickness.
